John Buffum, multiple factory teams,
a healthy contingent of
rally trucks, and an eight event championship in seven states, stretching from Georgia to Washington. Someone just recently posted this year-in-review video from the 1989 season.

I simply can’t get enough footage of Mazda 323 GTX rally cars ripping around on dirt ( or snow ).
